Wholemeal Scones Recipe

Method :
  • Preheat the oven to 200oC/400oF/Gas 6. Grease and flour a large baking sheet.
  • Cut the butter into small pieces. Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • Add the butter and rub in until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. Set aside 30ml for glazing, then stir the remaining egg mixture into the dry ingredients until it just holds together. Stir in the raisins.
  • Roll out the dough to about 2cm thickness. Stamp out circles with a biscuit cutter.
  • Place on the baking sheet and brush with the glaze.
  • Bake until golden, about 12-15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.
