Maple Pecan Nut Brownies Recipe

Maple syrup

Self-raising flour

Pecan nuts, chopped

Plain chocolate chips

Unsalted butter

Pecan nut halves, to decorate

Method :
  • Preheat the oven to 180oC/350oF/Gas 4. Line and grease a 25 x 18cm cake tin.
  • Beat together the melted butter, sugar, 60 ml of the maple syrup, eggs and flour for 1 minute, or until smooth.
  • Stir in the nuts and transfer to the cake tin. Smooth the surface and bake for 30 minutes, until risen and firm to the tough.
  • Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Melt the chocolate chips, butter and remaining syrup over a low heat. Cool slightly, then spread over the cake.
  • Press in the pecan nut halves, leave to set for about 5 minutes, then cut into bars.
